Magic Maze

Its good, but it requires players to really buy in to the silence to really shine.

Can we talk or give signals during the heist?

No — you cannot communicate by speaking, pointing, signalling, or making sounds for most of the game; the only allowed cues are staring intensely or placing the “Do Something!” pawn in front of a player, and whenever the sand timer is flipped players may speak while the sand flows (page 6).

Who is allowed to move a Hero pawn — can I move any hero whenever I want?

Any player may move any Hero pawn, but only using the actions shown on their own Action tile (for example the North arrow lets you move pawns north); there are no turns and you may perform your action(s) whenever useful, and you may not stop another player’s movement (page 4).

How does the Explore action work — do I have to be on a specific space to add a tile?

You can explore only when a Hero pawn is on an Exploration space of that hero’s colour that leads to unexplored area; the Explore player reveals the top Mall tile and places it so the white arrow continues from the Exploration space used, and once placed any hero may use that passage (page 5).

Do we have to take an action to steal the items, or is stealing a player action?

Stealing is automatic — when all four Hero pawns are simultaneously on their respective Item spaces the theft occurs immediately (flip the Theft tile B-side-up) and you must then run for the exits (page 5).

Can we use the Vortex teleport after the theft when we're escaping?

No — the Vortex system is automatically shut down once the theft has occurred, so the Use a Vortex action cannot be used during your escape (pages 4 and 5).

If a pawn is moved onto a Sand Timer space, do we always flip the sand timer?

Yes — you must immediately flip the sand timer whenever a Hero pawn is moved onto an available Sand Timer space (even if it gives more or less time); each Sand Timer space can be used only once, after which you place an Out of Order token on it (page 6).
