Love Letter

Players compete to win the Princess' trust by delivering a letter of intent through her circle of allies. Each round, players hold and play a single card representing a member of the court, using that character's special ability to peek at, compare, exchange, protect, or eliminate other players' cards. Rounds end when the deck runs out or all but one player are eliminated; the highest-value hand or sole survivor collects a favor token. Play continues until a player reaches the required number of favor tokens. This edition includes the Chancellor, who lets a player draw two and return two, and the Spy, which can score a token if uniquely played in a round, and supports up to six players.

    An improvement over the original (gave it away) which adds more choices and a new character to score points even if you don't win the round. Despite this addition, it still feels a bit long to finish given its lightness.

    Fascinating & addictive micro-game. It takes a couple of rounds before you understand the gist of it, but it's really fun after that. Replaced my old version with the 2019 edition. Great components, I much prefer the pouch over the tuckbox of the old version, and the new plastic tokens are also a nice touch. The graphic design of the cards is a definite improvement, as well as the artwork itself, although I have to say I'm not a huge fan of the disney-esque style. The two new roles look interesting enough, and it's nice to now have the ability to play the game with more than 4. The ultimate pub game, literally fits into your pocket. Quick, fun and simple, plays up to 6. A definite keeper.

Devo scartare la Contessa se ho anche il Re o il Principe in mano?

Sì — se hai la Contessa e in mano hai il Re oppure un Principe, devi scartare la Contessa (non devi rivelare l’altra carta). (pagina 8)

Se vengo eliminato dal round, applico comunque l'effetto della carta che ho in mano quando la scarto a faccia in su?

No — un giocatore eliminato scarta la carta che ha in mano a faccia in su, ma non ne applica l'effetto e non prende più turni fino al round successivo. (pagina 5)

Se scarto la Principessa, succedono comunque altri effetti (tipo il Principe che fa pescare una carta)?

No — se scarti la Principessa, vieni immediatamente eliminato dal round e tutti gli eventuali effetti residui della carta che l’ha scartata non si applicano, anche se gli effetti legati all’essere eliminato (ad es. Constable, Jester) continuano ad applicarsi. (pagina 8)

Cosa succede se provo a prendere di mira un giocatore protetto dalla Damigella o dal Sicofante?

Se la carta che hai scartato richiede di scegliere un giocatore che non può essere scelto a causa di una protezione (Dama di Corte o Piaggiatore), la tua carta viene scartata senza effetto; l’effetto della Dama di Corte garantisce immunità fino all’inizio del turno successivo di quel giocatore. (pagine 5, 9)

Posso dire “1” quando gioco una Guardia (cioè posso indovinare che qualcuno ha in mano un’altra Guardia)?

No — quando giochi una Guardia devi nominare un numero diverso da 1. (pagina 10)

Cosa succede se indovino un giocatore con una Guardia e lui rivela l’Assassino in mano?

Se un giocatore scelto da una Guardia rivela l’Assassino, il giocatore che ha giocato la Guardia viene eliminato dal round mentre chi ha l’Assassino no; poi l’Assassino deve essere scartato e chi lo aveva pesca una nuova carta (oppure la carta rimossa se il mazzo è vuoto). (pagina 14)
