Weather Machine

Weather Machine

Players act as scientists testing a prototype climate-control device, adjusting local weather to meet specific needs like rainfall for agriculture, wind for energy, and temperature for resorts and events. Each action produces side effects that change conditions elsewhere, forcing players to balance immediate objectives against global consequences while managing limited materials, bots, and chemicals under time pressure. The game uses resource management and planning as players acquire supplies, deploy interventions, and work toward building an improved prototype before atmospheric conditions worsen. Solo play is not included in the base box; it is available only in the upgrade pack.

Domande sulle regole

Risposte tratte dal regolamento dall'assistente per le regole di Ludoya.

Can I rearrange items in my Workshop whenever I want, and can I remove things to make room for new gains?

You may move Bots, Chemicals, and Machine Parts around your Workshop at any time (including swapping) as long as each item is moved to a legal space, but you may not remove an existing item to make space when gaining something—if you have no space you cannot gain it (p.4).

I'm missing the right Voucher/Chemical/Part — can I still pay for an action?

Yes—use the Executive Exchanges: pay any 3 other Vouchers to get a Science Voucher, pay 2 Vouchers to swap one of your Chemicals for the required type from the Supply (and use it immediately), or pay 2 Vouchers to swap a Machine Part with the reserve; additionally Science Vouchers may be spent as any other type (p.5; see Voucher rules p.4).

When do I pay Chemicals for Work/Research and where do those Chemicals go?

You pay the Chemical as part of the action: Work on Experiment (Lativ’s Lab) moves the Chemical from your Workshop to the rightmost empty matching Supply slot, while Research (R&D) moves the Chemical to the left of where you placed your Bot (and a bottom-space Research chemical or part is handled as noted on the space); chemicals are returned to the Supply or placed in R&D as indicated (pp.9–10; summary p.4).

If I take the 'Sell a Part' action in Government, do I lose the Machine Part and what do I gain?

Sell a Part advances your Government funding marker, requires placing a Bot on the Government Machine and replacing a taken Subsidy tile with a Machine Part from your Workshop (so you do give up that part), and then you take the Subsidy tile and a Research token (or an Investment tile if no Research tokens remain); afterwards check for Government Machine completion and CP (p.8).

What exactly makes the Weather Machine experiment run in Phase B?

The experiment runs only if (1) there is at least one Experiment tile in the display matching the active branch’s weather and (2) every space in the active branch has a Bot; if both are met the rightmost matching Experiment tile is the active one and players with Bots resolve the experiment (p.11).

When building a prototype in R&D, do my Machine Parts have to be arranged in a certain way?

Yes—all Machine Parts you provide for the prototype must be in the same row of your Workshop; you score CP for your Bots in the branch and for parts you provided, then return the used parts to the reserve (p.10).
