The Republic's Struggle

Two players reenact the political and military struggle in Spain’s interwar period and civil war years. One player represents the Republican side and the other the Nationalist side, using a hand of cards as an engine to trigger events, spend action points, or use icons to perform actions. Players spread political influence in towns, recruit troops and militias, provoke revolts or assaults, seize key barracks, air and naval bases, and conduct bombardments. Armies move between fronts and can block propaganda or secure regions despite opposing popular support. Diplomacy and foreign support also play a role in shaping each faction’s options and reach.
