Players take on the roles of survivors navigating harsh, post-apocalyptic environments while managing resources, exposure, and encounters with hostile creatures and other groups. The game offers two standalone campaign paths with distinct scenarios, new survivor characters, modular threats, and expanded mechanics for weather and environmental hazards. Play cooperatively across mission-based scenarios that emphasize exploration, tactical combat, scavenging, and long-term survival choices. Components and modules from other entries in the series interoperate to increase player count and replayability, while one campaign provides a step‑by‑step tutorial for new players.
