Two players build personal decks of ships and bases and use them to attack one another until an opponent’s Authority is reduced to zero. Players buy cards by spending Trade, adding ships and bases to their discard pile to be shuffled into their deck. Ships provide one-time effects when played; bases remain in play and grant ongoing or repeatable abilities. Cards belong to four factions and include Ally bonuses that reward using same-faction cards together. Combat damages opponents or destroys their bases; some bases are Outposts that must be removed before attacking Authority directly. Play emphasizes quick turns and strategic choices about acquisition, faction synergy, and whether to pursue Trade, Combat, bases, or direct attacks.

I enjoy every game of it but I feel that the base game doesn't give you many choices in a lot of situations where you can afford just one or two cards from the central market row. Expansions make it better though!

This has been a great deck builder to play with my 3 older kids (6, 11, 13). I love how it does a great job of introducing deck building in a simple way, which can also have a lot of depth.

Do I have to destroy an Outpost before I can attack a player or their other Bases?

Yes. If an opponent has an Outpost in play you may not be attacked and your non-outpost Bases may not be attacked or targeted until all Outposts are destroyed (page 1).

If I play two cards of the same faction in one turn, does the Ally ability trigger for the first card I played?

Yes. An Ally Ability is triggered as soon as you have another Ship or Base of that faction in play on your turn, and once triggered it may be used any time during your Main Phase (page 1).

If a card tells me to scrap a card, do I get that card’s Scrap Ability?

No — scrapping a card by another effect does not give you its Scrap Ability. Only if you choose to use a card’s Scrap Ability do you remove it from play and get that ability; Explorers scrapped go to the Explorer Pile (page 1).

If I acquire a card, can I play it immediately that turn?

No. Acquiring a card puts it directly into your discard pile and does not count as playing it, so you don’t use its abilities until you draw and play it on a later turn (page 1).

Does unused Trade or Combat carry over to my next turn?

No. During your Discard Phase you lose any Trade remaining in your Trade Pool and any Combat remaining in your Combat Pool (page 1).

What do I do if I need to draw but my personal deck is empty?

Draw any remaining cards in your deck, then shuffle your discard pile to form a new personal deck and continue drawing until you have drawn the required number (page 1).
