Players take the roles of rival Elder Gods and their cults vying to dominate a ruined Earth after the apocalypse. On a world map, each faction gathers Power each turn and spends it in Action Rounds to recruit cultists, move forces, fight battles, summon monsters, build Gates, cast spells, and awaken its Great Old One. Players score on the Doom Track and must unlock six faction-specific spell books to qualify for victory. Each faction has unique units, abilities, and book requirements, offering multiple strategic paths. The base box supports 2–4 players on the supplied map, with larger-player options available through expansions.
