Cascadia
Players build a private landscape of hexagonal habitat tiles representing five terrain types and place wildlife tokens onto matching spaces. On each turn a tile is chosen from a limited display that is paired with a specific animal token, then the tile is added to the growing map and the token is placed on a compatible habitat space; a limited nature token can override the pairing. Scoring rewards large contiguous areas of each habitat type and the placement patterns of five animal types, with randomized scoring objectives that change what configurations earn points. The game emphasizes spatial planning and adapting to the available tile-and-token pairs.

Mohasz8,0 I can see my rating go both up and down in the future, but my first impression was that Cascadia is a really pleasant game. I love how clean the design is, it’s one of those games where you learn the rules once, and you’ll remember them forever. It’s just the right amount of thinkiness without it becoming stressful. It helps that the game is pretty forgiving, there are almost always a good option choose from. The main strength of the game is the satisfying double-layered puzzle (terrains and animals) that the scoring cards create. I really can’t name any real negatives, maybe the experience can be a bit bland / tame for some, the insert is bad, and be aware that the game is 90% multiplayer solitaire (if that’s not your thing), and a very quiet one, since in my experience, usually you don’t even narrate your turns in this one.
Questions de règles
Réponses tirées du livret par l'assistant de règles de Ludoya.
Do I have to take both the habitat tile and the wildlife token in a pair, or can I take just one?
You normally must take one of the four displayed Habitat Tile + Wildlife Token combinations (you take both together); however, before selecting you may spend a Nature Token to take any one Habitat Tile and any one Wildlife Token separately. (p.6)
Can I place a wildlife token on my Starter Habitat Tile or on the tile I just placed?
Yes — you may place the Wildlife Token onto any single Habitat Tile in your environment that shows that animal and does not already have a token, including your Starter Habitat Tile or the tile you just placed; if you cannot or choose not to place it, return the token to the cloth bag. (p.4, p.7)
Do habitat tiles have to match adjacent tiles when placing them?
No — the only placement requirement is that the new Habitat Tile must touch at least one side of an existing tile (or the Starter); matching terrain is not a placement rule but is used later for corridor scoring. (p.7, p.8)
What do Nature Tokens do and how do I get or spend them?
You gain a Nature Token whenever you place a matching Wildlife Token onto a Keystone tile; before selecting you may spend Nature Tokens to either take any one Habitat Tile and any one Wildlife Token or to wipe/replace wildlife tokens in the center, and any unused Nature Tokens are worth 1 point at game end. (p.7, p.6, p.8)
What happens if three or four of the same wildlife tokens appear in the center?
If all four visible Wildlife Tokens are the same they are automatically wiped and replaced one‑at‑a‑time from the bag; if three are the same the active player may choose (once that turn) to wipe those three and replace them, and wiped tokens are returned to the bag after replacement. (p.6)
When does the game end — how many turns does each player get?
The game ends immediately if, at the end of any player's turn, there are no face‑down Habitat Tiles left to replace the one taken; as noted in the rules each player will play exactly 20 turns before final scoring. (p.5, p.8)
