Only the Magician can take the Perform action during the Performance phase; other characters may Set Up or Reschedule Trick markers but cannot Perform (Magician only). (pp. 17–18)

No — Components are not spent when you Prepare a Trick; you only need to meet the Component requirements and have no Trick markers already on that Trick card to Prepare it. (p. 16)

When two Trick markers with the same category meet in a Link circle you create a Link and the player who created the Link immediately receives the Link bonus based on the Trick’s level (1/2/3 Fame or Coins); if the Link circle has a Shard symbol, each player with a Trick marker in that Link also immediately gains one Trickerion Shard (creating the Link yourself over a Shard gives you only one). A placed character’s AP = base by type (Apprentice 1 / Specialist 2 / Magician 3) plus the slot modifier, and you may pay one Trickerion Shard once when placing a character (not in the Theater) to gain +1 AP. (p. 12)
