玩家在这款以岛屿经济为背景的城市建设卡牌游戏中扮演不同角色。每轮选择一个角色，为所有人触发相应效果，同时获得一项个人特权。卡牌代表生产建筑（靛蓝、糖、烟草、咖啡、白银）以及特殊的紫色建筑；手牌可以用来建造或作为货币支付，而牌库中的卡牌则代表生产出的、面朝下放置的货物。 每轮依次进行角色选择、生产和建造行动，并在每轮结束时执行七张手牌上限。胜利点只来自建筑；当有玩家建成十二座建筑时，游戏结束。
