Shakespeare
Manage a London theatre company over a frantic week as managers recruit and direct a troupe to win the Queen’s favor. Players draft and hire character cards (actors, craftsmen, a jeweler, assistants, etc.), assign them to 1–5 actions per day, and balance rehearsals, costume and set construction, and special tasks. Actors rehearse acts to gain bonuses at dress rehearsals on days four and six; costume makers and set dressers provide required elements and symmetry for higher rewards; assistants boost craftsmen and the jeweler supplies gold elements for extra impact. Daily ambience and rest rules force trade-offs between working characters now and having them available later. At game end players pay wages and score prestige; the highest prestige wins.

Evan3,5 This is a really solid euro game where players hire actors, make costumes and design sets in preparation for putting on a play. The game is very tight. Every action and every point counts. The turn order mechanism rewards players for doing less, which is an interesting cost/benefit analysis. With one exception, action spots only refresh every other turn, so managing your actions is a fun mini game as well. I enjoyed playing this game immensely, but after playing, I don't feel anxious for a second play. If someone were to bring it by and want to play it I'd be happy to, but a lot of times after playing a game like this I'm anxious to take another crack at it, but here I don't feel that same pressure. I think it's because you sort of see everything the game does in a single play. You see all the tokens, and all the cards. The order in which those cards come out will give the game some replayability, but there's maybe not quite enough going on in the end to make me want to revisit it. :star: Art, Iconography and components functional :star: Clever or interesting mechanisms :star: Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players :nostar: Multiple plays stay interesting :star: Low or mitigatable luck elements :star::nostar::nostar::nostar::nostar: Raw enjoyment
