Star Trek: Captain's Chair
Players assume the roles of named Starfleet and non-Starfleet captains and compete head-to-head to advance their faction’s goals across the galaxy. Each captain uses a unique asymmetric deck that reflects personality, allies, and signature assets; decks steer different strategic paths and interact with a shared pool of common cards. Players command ships, assign crew, send away teams, manage resources, and negotiate alliances while balancing diplomacy, exploration, science, and occasional conflict. When can I take control of a neutral Location, and what happens when I do?
A neutral Location is secured if you have at least 3 tokens there and at least 2 more than your opponent; during the Control step you may take one secured neutral Location. When you take control your opponent first gains 1 Glory per token there, all Away Teams are returned to their captains and all Ships are dismissed, then you move the Location to your Location Area and immediately resolve its CONTROL operation (page 9).
How do I know if resolving an operation costs one of my actions? What if I have no actions left?
If an operation starts with the action icon it requires spending one of your three available actions and you must place an action token on the card as a reminder; if you have no available action tokens you cannot resolve that operation (page 10).
Can I use a card’s Activation/Reaction/Passive (table) operations while it’s in my Staging Area or beamed under another card?
No — table operations can only be used for cards that are actually on the table (deployed ships, controlled Locations, Duty Officers, etc.); cards in your Staging Area or beamed (tucked under another card) do not have their operations available (pages 11 and 19).
When I gain or scan a Market card, where do I put the card and do I get tokens on it?
When you gain from the Market you may take the faceup Market card or the top card of that suit’s deck and place it either on top of your Draw deck or into your Discard pile; if you take a faceup Market card you also collect any resource tokens on it and then reveal the next card to refill the Market (page 16).
Do beamed cards count for missions, and what happens to them if the host ship leaves or the mission completes?
Beamed cards are considered in play and can contribute to mission goals, but their operations are not available; if the host Ship leaves the Fleet Area its beamed cards leave the same way (e.g., are dismissed), and when you complete a mission you dismiss all beamed cards that contributed to that mission (pages 19–20).
