Daitoshi

Players take on the role of industrial magnates in a rapidly growing steam-powered metropolis, competing to expand factories, develop inventions, and influence the city’s districts. On each turn a player either produces resources or moves their magnate to a new district, then sends workers, exploits forest and river hexes for steam fuel, and performs an action such as building, electrifying districts, trading, researching technologies, or contributing to the city’s mega-machine project. Resource management, worker placement, area interaction, and strategic timing determine growth; exploitation of natural hexes yields benefits but can have long-term consequences that players may mitigate through side projects like reforestation.

Questions de règles

Réponses tirées du livret par l'assistant de règles de Ludoya.

Do I have to pay Steam to activate buildings during Production, or can I use Wealth?

Yes — to activate a building you must pay the Steam cost shown beneath that building (return the Steam to the supply), and Wealth cannot be used to pay Steam because Steam is not a resource; once per game you may return your Government Grant to activate all buildings without paying Steam (pages 10, 12).

If I call a Production Turn, can other players also produce even if their Production token isn't in the middle?

Yes — when you announce a Production Turn you become the Production Leader and all other players may simultaneously produce that turn regardless of their Production token positions (page 10).

How many steps do Progress markers advance when I produce? Does being Production Leader change that?

Each activated Invention advances its Progress marker once, and if you are the Production Leader you advance those markers twice when you activate buildings; note that Operation tiles in Conflict can alter or prevent Progress advancements (pages 11–12, 23).

Can I place multiple Workers on the same Workshop or on the Mega‑Machine Workshop?

No — each Worker you place must go to a different empty Workshop in the district, although you may send as many Workers to the district as there are empty Workshops provided they match the district's color; the Mega‑Machine provides an additional Workshop and you also gain any Upgrade rewards it has when you place a Worker there (pages 14, 21).

If I Exploit a hex of a type I already have, do I flip it to its Yōkai/Conflict side and what happens?

Yes — when you place a second (or additional) hex of the same terrain you flip that hex to its Yōkai side and stack it on your Exploitation Record, and at the end of your turn any terrain with more than one hex causes the corresponding Operation tile to flip to its Conflict side, changing steam gains/costs, worker limits, or Progress behavior (pages 15, 23).

When exactly does the game end and how are the final turns handled?

The end is triggered when the next‑to‑last hex space on any Wilderness Track is revealed; then finish the round so all players have the same number of turns, each player takes one more turn, resolve end‑of‑turn checks, and proceed to end‑game scoring (page 24).
