Play as naturalists traveling the 19th-century oceans and islands to observe species, collect specimens and advance scientific theories. The game uses worker-placement and action-selection across multiple locations; players commit crew and resources to expeditions, gather cards and tokens representing animals, experiments and discoveries, and manage time and funding to score points. This collector’s edition combines the base game with an expansion that adds a new map, alternative board layout and extra scenarios, plus numerous deluxe components and mini-expansions — additional ships, crew, objective tiles, special actions, decorative coins and seals, expanded card decks, and upgraded player aids and storage.

Do I need a Wax Seal to place a worker on an action space?
Many action spaces require a Wax Seal to place a worker there; you must place or spend a seal as indicated to use those spaces, and you can buy/place seals from the Academy (see pages 10 and 12).
How do I unlock a Lens location so I can use it?
You unlock a Lens by taking the Lens/Small Diary action that removes the Lens token and allows the location to be used according to the Small Diary/Lens rules — follow the Lens unlock procedure on pages 9 and 34. (page 9, page 34)
Can Explorers or Ships move onto or stop on spaces that are already occupied?
You cannot move onto an occupied exploration space; exploration movement skips over occupied spots according to the movement rules, and ships follow the Ship Navigation rules for movement and skipping (see page 13).
How do I deliver a specimen to the Museum and what do I gain for doing so?
When delivering a specimen you must place it in a valid Museum slot and pay any listed costs; successful delivery grants the listed coin and Theory of Evolution benefits as described in the Museum delivery rules (see page 16).
How does the Correspondence/Stamp majority scoring work?
At the Reward Phase, correspondence majorities are resolved by comparing stamps and awarding/removing stamps per the majority rules, then scoring and removing stamps as specified (see pages 15 and 23).
What's the difference between silver and golden workers?
Silver and golden workers are distinct types with different bonus effects and placement strengths; golden workers provide stronger or special bonuses compared to silver workers as explained with examples (see page 19).
