What happens during my turn, and do I draw a Mythos card before or after my actions?
Take the steps in order: receive skills, perform two actions, resolve a Mythos card, then discard down to 10 skill cards if needed. You may choose the same action twice. (Rulebook, pp. 10, 13)
Can I move only to an adjacent space?
No. A move action lets you move to any ship space except the Brig or Sick Bay; characters cannot move to water spaces. (Rulebook, p. 10; Rules Reference, p. 14)
How do skill checks work—do opposing cards count against us?
Yes. Add the values of supporting-skill cards and subtract the values of opposing-skill cards; the check passes if the result meets or exceeds its target. Two chaos cards are also added face down, and players may secretly contribute cards. (Rulebook, p. 16)
Can I use a skill card’s Action ability without spending one of my actions?
No. An ability labeled “Action:” costs one action; to use one on a skill card, reveal and resolve it, then discard it. Other skill-card abilities can be played during any player’s turn. (Rulebook, pp. 10–11; Rules Reference, p. 13)
If I’m in Sick Bay, do I still draw my full skill set?
No. During your Receive Skills step, draw only one card of your choice from your skill set while in Sick Bay. You can leave by spending a move action. (Rulebook, p. 10; Rules Reference, p. 13)
Do we win as soon as the waypoint cards add up to 12 distance?
No. After the waypoint cards total at least 12, the travel track must advance to Arrive one more time for the humans to win. (Rulebook, p. 14; Rules Reference, p. 17)
