Le Case della Follia: Seconda Edizione

Players cooperate in an app-driven horror mystery set in a Lovecraftian town, investigating eerie mansions and shadowed streets. The digital app handles scenario setup, narrative events, monster behavior, and hidden information while guiding exploration. Each player controls an investigator with unique skills and equipment, searching rooms, collecting items, solving puzzles presented by the app, and resolving encounters with cultists and monsters. Sanity and health must be managed alongside objectives as the group works together to uncover clues and complete scenario-specific goals before the threats and madness overwhelm them.

One of the best dungeon crawlers I have ever played as it's focused more on the solving of puzzles and mysteries in addition to a great app that randomizes a lot of things. This leads to a great atmosphere as there are no physical or digital tracks that tells you how close to danger you are, and you build the "dungeons" while you play to not give anything away at the start. Sold it as I've played through it all and it takes quite a lot of space. Also, outside of the puzzles, the spellcasting mechanic and procedural map I found the combat itself to be a little bit too simple. The replayability is low in my view even though you can play different investigators and that the app randomizes the map and items. I prefer playing Arkham Horror 2nd edition over MoM2 and AHLCG as it gives me more of the roleplay feel without having a DM (just like MoM2 and AHLCG), but it's more of a sandbox that plays fast even with more players.

It's difficult to overstate how much I've enjoyed this game with my friends, with all its expansions. It's a product of its time, and really shines with the app that narrates the story. Unfortunately as more time passes between the release of the game and the current year, the more likely that the app will disappear from android or iPhone. Fun fact that added to our enjoyment: In Spanish, the voice actor for the narrator is the same person that voices Admiral Adama from Battlestar Galactica, the remake. It felt very special.

1 partida.

How many actions does my investigator get on their turn, and what counts as an action?

During the Investigator Phase each investigator takes their turn in order and may take up to 2 actions; Move, Explore, Search, Interact, Trade and component actions all count as actions (see p.6–7).

What happens when I try to Evade a monster — what does a successful or failed Evade do?

Evade is resolved with an app Agility test; if you pass you deal 1 damage to that enemy and may move away, and you may spend Clues to convert dice during the test (see p.14–15).

How do skill tests work and can I spend Clues to change dice results?

Skill tests are declared and resolved through the app, which shows the difficulty and handles the roll; you may spend Clues to convert die results to try to meet the difficulty (see p.13 and p.15).

How are Damage and Horror applied, and what do Wounded and Insane mean for my investigator?

Damage reduces health and Horror reduces sanity; reaching the character’s thresholds imposes the Wounded or Insane conditions (with their effects), and exceeding limits can eliminate an investigator from the scenario (see p.12).

When do monsters activate and attack — during my turn or during another phase?

Monsters activate during the Mythos Phase, after investigators have taken their turns; the app runs Mythos events and monster activations (movement and attacks) in that phase (see p.10).

Do puzzles save progress if I stop and come back later?

Yes — puzzle steps and progress are tracked by the app so you can work on puzzles over multiple visits; the app also auto-detects solves and enforces slide/code puzzle rules (see p.17–18).
