Les Charlatans de Belcastel
Players portray quack doctors crafting secret brews by drawing ingredient chips from personal bags and placing them into individual pot boards. Each round, chips are drawn and added one by one to a spiraling track; higher-valued chips extend placement and increase potion value while certain chips (cherry bombs) risk causing an explosion. Players simultaneously push their luck to draw more valuable ingredients without busting. After each round, players score victory points and earn coins to buy better ingredients for their bags; exploded pots force a choice between points or coins. Play proceeds for nine rounds, and the highest score wins.

Garfield7,0 #29.1 It's ok. Some funny moments. But at the end it's pure luck. I guess it's good family game. Mohasz7,4 After the first two plays, it looks like a solid family game design, pretty unique as well. I can definitely see my rating go up after multiple plays, especially with all the different ingredient books. The components are nice, although the ingredient tokens are not very satisfying to handle. I’ll try the coin capsule upgrade first as it’s less than third the price of the geekup bits. We’ll see... Well, the coin capsules work nicely, however, I'm still not as satisfied with the game as I thought I would be. There's something about it that makes me not that excited when it gets played. Too simple, random, fiddly...? I can't quite put my finger on it. I kinda like it better now, it's such a unique design. Yes it's random, but it's fun if you play it with the right mindset. + Herb Witches
Questions de règles
Réponses tirées du livret par l'assistant de règles de Ludoya.
How do I place chips by value — where does a 2 go if I already placed a 1?
Place the first drawn chip on the first space after your droplet (or rat); for each subsequently drawn chip place it after the previously laid chip according to its value (so a 2 goes two spaces after the last placed chip), leaving any gaps as empty spaces (page 4).
What makes my pot explode — do colored chips count toward the explosion?
Only the values on white chips are added to check for an explosion; if the total of white chips exceeds 7 your pot explodes, the last chip is still placed, and you must stop drawing (page 4).
Can I use my flask to put back the last chip or to prevent an explosion?
You may put back the last drawn chip only if it was white by using your flask, but you cannot use the flask if that last drawn chip caused the pot to explode; the flask can be used once per turn and must be refilled before it can be used again (page 5).
If my pot explodes, do I still get rubies, points, or the chance to buy chips?
You still determine your scoring space and receive any ruby shown on it (rubies are awarded regardless of an explosion), but exploded pots do not take part in the Bonus Die (Evaluation A); after rubies (C) an exploded player must choose either to take the victory points (D) or the coins (E) and can only buy chips if they take coins (pages 5–6).
When do the rats come into play and how do I move my rat stone?
Rats start in round 2 after the Fortune Teller card is read; each non-leading player counts the rat-tail symbols between their score marker and the leader on the scoring track and places their rat stone that many spaces ahead of their droplet (the leader cannot use rat-tails) (page 3).
If I buy chips in the Buy Chips phase, can I use them immediately that same turn?
No — shopping happens in Evaluation Phase E after the Potions Phase, and purchased chips are placed into your bag along with the drawn chips, so they are available for future draws (i.e., not usable during the Potions Phase you just finished) (pages 6–7).
